Following the publication of the Transport Select Committee’s report “Skills and workforce in the road haulage sector”, Select Committee Member, Karl calls for the transport logistics and haulage sector to “change its mindset” while ensuring the Government does all it can.
Further to the decision by Universal Health Ltd1 to hand back the management of four GP surgeries2 to Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group (LWCGG) on 1 August 2016, two of which are in the City, Karl has called on LWCGG to publicly declare that they have no intention of closing these two surgeries.
Karl has welcomed today’s figures showing that there are 1,550 more people in work across the City of Lincoln than in 2010, a 50% reduction in people claiming key out of work benefits.
Karl hosted a Summer Reception at Lincoln’s Cathedral Centre for some invited Trustees of circa 100 of Lincoln’s 300 plus Charities, which was kindly sponsored by Lindum Group, Wright Vigar and Andrew & Co Solicitors.
Karl has congratulated Rt. Hon. Theresa May MP on her selection as the Leader of the Conservative Party and as the United Kingdom’s new Prime Minister.
Karl as today joined the Big Lottery Fund in calling on community groups in Lincoln to apply for funding to hold events or activities that will bring people together and celebrate what makes their local community special.
Suzanne Evans, a teacher from Lincoln Minster School, has been selected to attend the tenth annual Teachers’ Institute in the Houses of Parliament. In the ten years since it was launched, Teachers’ Institute has trained more than 500 teachers, from all parts of the UK, immersing them in the role, work and history of Parliament.
Being in Parliament at this time, is both exciting and bears a heavy responsibility. Exciting because of the need to execute the decision made by the Great British public in the European Referendum last week and sadly the need for a new Prime Minister. And responsibility, because of the need to make the right decisions.
