Karl McCartney JP MP, Lincoln’s Member of Parliament, has fiercely criticised the City of Lincoln Council for approving a proposal to introduce 20p charges for three of its public toilets.
The City Council claims that charging for facilities at Lucy Tower Street, Castle Square and Tentercroft Street could bring in almost £30,000 per year to help meet savings targets of £4m per annum by 2018/19.
Karl McCartney JP MP, Lincoln’s Member of Parliament, said: “This sort of behaviour is all-too-typical of the Labour Council who somehow manage to find the money for their pet projects, but take every opportunity to punish my hardworking Council Tax-paying Constituents and the many visitors to our City attracted by, what otherwise is, Lincoln’s superb tourism offer.
“If Labour are so keen on coin-operated toilets in Lincoln, why don’t they install them in their own toilets in City Hall?”
