Karl welcomes new steps to help young people in the East Midlands gain the skills and qualifications they need to succeed

Karl has welcomed the news that from September all pupils will study the EBacc at GCSE to ensure they get the crucial skills and qualifications they need to succeed in life. The English Baccalaureate (EBacc) is awarded when students achieve A* to C in five core GCSE subjects including English, Maths, Science, Humanities and Languages – the courses that universities and employers value the most. From September 2015 all pupils starting secondary school will study the EBacc when they reach their GCSEs.

Karl attends formal opening of Lincoln Castle and the Magna Carta Centre

On Monday, 8 June 2015, Karl McCartney MP, the Member of Parliament for the City of Lincoln, joined Princess Anne and the Leader of Lincolnshire County Council, Cllr Martin Hill OBE, as well as other guests and thousands of members of the public at the formal opening ceremony of the newly refurbished Lincoln Castle and the Magna Carta Centre.
