Attached is a letter to the SU regarding the recent issue of VAT on sanitary products and the EU
The Student Union President has now been informed how wrong her misguided assertions were
Some local media should also take note with regards to the background, history and researched coverage of the issue both before and after the vote in the House of Commons last week
Karl McCartney, Member of Parliament said, “It is regrettable that at various times some of our local media in Lincolnshire seem to be willing to follow a pre-ordained political agenda and narrative from various third parties, and themselves. I was elected in 2010, and subsequently in 2015, with an increased majority and will continue as I always have done to represent the myriad of concerns of my constituents to the best of my ability as I see fit. I have always said and maintain my desire to ‘Put Lincoln First’.
“I find it deplorable that some local media, and organisations, with little regard for the plain truth are willing and complicit in such misrepresentations and look forward to the public and reported apologies from all those who they happily reported castigated me and my colleagues - completely erroneously - last week. I would be pleasantly surprised to see such coverage given equal prominence.”
