In response to the Post Office Horizon Scandal, Karl has said:
“The Post Office Horizon scandal is a huge miscarriage of justice that a number of MPs have campaigned incessantly on and asked pointed questions of various Ministers, over recent years. It was obvious that corporate interests perpetrated a wholly indefensible wrong against those who just wanted to serve their communities. I welcome our Prime Minister’s decisive action to overturn convictions and quickly deliver compensation.
“But we must seek prosecution and redress against those at Post Office @RoyalMail Fujitsu in the UK & Ireland, and civil servants - who knew the prosecutions were unsafe and purposely covered up the problems.
“Ministers of all colours (remember, Horizon was introduced by the Labour Government in 1999 and who oversaw many of the prosecutions) need to be held to account, not least LibDem Leader Ed Davey, but importantly so do the civil servants who advised them there was nothing wrong and there was ‘nothing to see here.’
“Hansard is clear on those Backbenchers in the House of Commons who have consistently and unyieldingly kept up the pressure on successive Governments, despite reassurances and platitudes from those at fault. They are vindicated in their willingness to seek the truth and shine a light on the murky, underhand dealings of the corporate entities involved.”
