The Conservative Government has announced today that Lincoln is one of 13 places in England that are to receive a new community diagnostic centre (CDC) to cut NHS waiting lists. This means people in Lincoln and the surrounding area will have easier access to crucial tests and will also see test waiting times reduced.
The Lincoln CDC will be at the Lincoln Science and Innovation Park, Beevor Street, Lincoln (LN6 7DJ). The centre will have state-of-the-art equipment to deliver CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-ray, phlebotomy, respiratory, cardiology and sleep studies tests and scans. These will first start in December 2023 and once fully operational, the testing centre will have the capacity to deliver up to 86,000 checks, tests and scans a year.
Following the announcement, Lincoln’s MP, Karl, said: “This new health testing centre will make a huge difference to people in Lincoln. It will increase access to these tests and then of course, reduce the waiting times. It is exactly the type of local health service we need in Lincoln, where support for prevention and early detection is on our doorstep.
“Once again, it shows the Government is investing heavily in improving the health of people in Lincoln and the surrounding area. Recently, we have had extra investment in A&E and mental health support at Lincoln County Hospital, a medical school in the heart of the City and now this new centre. I will keep campaigning for even more, including a dental school too.”
