Following the announcement that YMCA Lincolnshire has been awarded over £2 million from the Conservative Government’s Youth Investment Fund for its St Giles Community Centre, Lincoln’s MP, Karl, said:
“I am very pleased to see that YMCA Lincolnshire has been awarded over £2 million of Government funding for the St Giles Community Centre from the Youth Investment Fund.
“It is exactly the type of investment we need in our local community to help give young people in Lincoln the very best chance of making the most of the opportunities they have.
“I am really looking forward to seeing how this vitally important community centre continues to develop over the next few years.
“A big thankyou to YMCA Lincolnshire for putting the bid together and for their continuing commitment to the young people of our City.”
The Youth Investment Fund was launched in August 2022, with a call for youth services in the country’s most underserved areas to apply for a slice of fund worth over £300 million to improve the health, well-being, skills, and opportunities for young people.
The Youth Investment Fund has been established by the UK government, through the Department for Culture, Media and Sports, and is being delivered by Social Investment Business, in partnership with the National Youth Agency, Key Fund, and Resonance. It has been developed to create, expand, and improve local youth facilities and their services in the out-of-school youth sector, to drive positive outcomes for young people, including improved mental and physical well-being, and skills for life and work. It aims to transform and level up the out-of-school youth sector.
