Following the announcement of the Labour-run City of Lincoln Council’s plans to replace the City’s famous Christmas Market with a series of small events, Lincoln’s Conservative MP, Karl, said: “The Labour Council's new schedule of Christmas events intended to replace our wonderful Christmas Market, that they closed in secret, are simply not good enough for a City like Lincoln. They even admit the 'new' events will not entirely replace the economic benefits of the market. But the market was always about more than money. It brought our City together, put us on the national tourist map and ensured people came back across the year to visit our museums, galleries, shops, cathedral and castle. And much, much more.
“Remember, every single member of Lincoln's Labour Party fully supports the Labour Council's decision. If they act like this in Lincoln, then think what a disaster they would be if they ran the whole country.”
