Lincoln’s Conservative Candidate for the General Election, Karl McCartney JP, has expressed “real disappointment” that a hustings event, organised by the Federation of Small Business (FSB) in Greater Lincolnshire & Peterborough, and planned for this evening, Monday 22 May, in Lincoln has been cancelled.
Unfortunately, it has transpired that there was a Parliamentary Candidate (or perhaps more than one) who was not available to attend.
Karl McCartney JP, Lincoln’s Conservative Candidate for the General Election, said: “I was very much looking forward to another opportunity to represent the views of Lincoln and Lincolnshire’s small businessmen and women at tonight’s debate.
“As Lincoln’s Member of Parliament since 2010, I have helped and supported in various ways hundreds of businesses, large, medium and small, across the City. I have encouraged our Conservative Government to put a business-led recovery at the heart of its plan, cutting Corporation Tax from 28 per cent to 19 per cent today - and in doing so seeing employment and tax revenues levels rise.
“I want the businessmen and women in Lincoln to vote Conservative so that I can continue my work helping people, businesses and organisations in the City of Lincoln to succeed.
“This would be put at risk by electing Jeremy Corbyn’s anti-business, anti-enterprise Labour Party whose tax-spend-and-borrow policies will put jobs and livelihoods at risk, both locally and across our Country.
“And Lincoln’s businesswomen and men will know very well that this is the real reason why my political opponents have run-scared of a businesses orientated debate. Of course I and my supporters are sure the Labour Party supporters will now be all over social media castigating their candidate for not facing up to the business community of Lincoln.”
