On Wednesday 22 February Lincoln’s Member of Parliament, Karl McCartney JP MP, welcomed a group of 30 Year 5 pupils and teachers from Lincoln Minster School to Westminster.
The day began with Karl accompanying the group for a walk down Downing Street to see the famous black door of No 10 that houses the British Prime Minister. Next stop was the Houses of Parliament for a guided tour of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
After their tour, the children met with Karl in Portcullis House for a Question & Answer Session where the Member of Parliament for Lincoln discussed the role he carries out on behalf of the people of Lincoln and how Parliament makes the laws that affect all our lives.
Karl McCartney JP MP, Lincoln’s Member of Parliament, said: “I am very grateful to Mr Burton, the Deputy Head of Lincoln Minster School’s Prep School for, once again, including a visit to Parliament during the Year 5 pupils’ stay in London.
“The students and their teachers asked an array of interesting and politically-aware questions and I greatly enjoyed engaging with them.
“Lincoln Minster and, indeed, all schools in Lincoln are always very welcome to visit me in Parliament and I look forward to seeing them again in the future.”
