Karl McCartney JP MP, the Member of Parliament for Lincoln, has welcomed Chancellor Philip Hammond’s decision to freeze fuel duty in today’s Autumn Statement.
It comes after more than 50 MPs, including Karl McCartney MP, signed a letter to Mr Hammond urging him to help hard-pressed families and small businesses in places like Lincoln and Lincolnshire.
The letter was sent by Dover’s Member of Parliament, Charlie Elphicke MP, Chairman of the FairFuelUK Parliamentary Group, earlier this month.
Reports in national newspapers suggest the campaign stopped a planned 2p rise in fuel duty.
Karl McCartney JP MP, Lincoln’s Member of Parliament, said: “Freezing fuel duty is a huge boost to drivers in the City of Lincoln, Bracebridge Heath, Waddington East and Skellingthorpe – and of massive benefit to local businesses in our community.
“I’m delighted the Chancellor listened to our concerns. He is absolutely right to put more money in the pockets of people in and around our City.”
