“I share the frustration of many people in Lincoln that the works for the Transport Hub will no longer commence as previously expected on 15 August.
“When I met with the Chief Executive of the City of Lincoln Council a few weeks ago, she advised me that there may well be a delay of a couple of weeks while we await confirmation of funding from the Department of Transport.
“As the local Member of Parliament I offered to raise the matter at the highest levels in Government.
“However, in response the Council assured me that my intervention was not required and that the Council had the matter in hand.
“It is with surprise and disappointment, therefore, I learn that the start date has indeed been pushed back.
“It is regretful that this Labour-run Council do not seem capable of putting political differences aside and maximizing efficiently and effectively all the resources at their disposal.
“I have now written to the Secretary of State for Transport requesting that this funding issue is given urgent attention so that work on the Transport Hub can begin at the earliest opportunity.”
