On Monday 23 March 2015, Karl McCartney, Member of Parliament for Lincoln, will be joined by employers across Lincolnshire to hold a key summit in Lincoln on increasing disabled employment in the region.
The event is one of a number of conferences being hosted by Members of Parliament, on a cross-party basis, across the country to promote the Disability Confident campaign. Karl McCartney will chair the event and take questions from employers keen to learn more about how to improve and increase the recruitment of disabled people.
The Disability Confident initiative was launched by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and business in 2013 to encourage employers to become more confident about recruiting disabled people. There has been strong support from major national employers which needs to be translated at a local level, getting small and medium sized businesses to sign up to the principles of the campaign. Businesses are asked to become Disability Confident employers and set an important example for their peers.
Sponsored by national employment, learning and skills charity, Shaw Trust, the event will provide employers the opportunity to speak about their experience recruiting disabled employees.
If you would like to attend the event can reserve a place by emailing [email protected].
Pictures and a press release will be sent immediately after the event has finished.
