On Thursday, 12 March, Lincoln City’s Conservative Member of Parliament, Karl McCartney MP, accompanied the Housing Minister, Brandon Lewis MP, on a visit to Jackson Buildbase Builders Merchants on Canwick Road in Lincoln.
Karl McCartney MP said: “My sincere thanks goes to both the Minister of State for Housing, Brandon Lewis MP, for coming to Lincoln and to all the staff at Buildbase for their kindness in taking the time to host our visit.
“Buildbase are a highly valued local employer and the builders in and around Lincoln value greatly the services, materials and products they provide.
“The Minister’s visit was particularly apt in the light of recent new figures showing that Conservative efforts to ensure redundant and surplus public sector land is brought back into use will help to deliver upto 137 new homes in Lincoln.
“Our Conservative-led Government are determined to get Britain building again and with the help of builder’s merchants such as Jackson Buildbase, that is precisely what we will do.”
Brandon Lewis MP said: “I was delighted to visit Buildbase and see for myself how they are playing a critical role in helping deliver new homes, and making improvements to existing properties.
“Housebuilding is a key part of our long-term economic plan, with schemes like Help to Buy supporting people who want to get on the property ladder, and creating jobs across the country. It means since 2010 nearly 204,000 households have been helped to buy or reserve a home through Government-backed schemes.
“And I was pleased to see how Buildbase are taking on apprentices in Lincoln, helping young people to take their first steps in a new career in construction.”
