Lincoln’s Member of Parliament, Karl McCartney, has welcomed the news that all five local, Lincoln-based charities will each be fielding a strong team to join him as he walks the boundary of his City of Lincoln Constituency.
Karl McCartney said: “I am truly grateful for the level of support I have received for this event, both fellow walkers and corporately through sponsorship. It is a reflection of the great work which these five local charities provide to my constituents that there is so much support for them. It is important to highlight the important work which they do and with under a week to go I, and they, are very happy to make our gratitude known for the sponsorship we have received, and we are very happy to accept any further donations.
"It is not any easy task, but with a group of walkers we should encourage each other throughout the day to set a fair pace and celebrate together at the completion of our undertaking with a few pints at the Horse and Jockey in Waddington. Hopefully there will also be other charities in future years who will be up for a similar challenge!
"I am very happy that, all being well, at the end of Saturday I should be able to say that I have achieved one of my ambitions, to have truly walked right around my Constituency of Lincoln!"
