Lincoln’s Member of Parliament, Karl McCartney MP, yesterday welcomed the Secretary of State for Health, Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP, to Lincoln County Hospital.
Mr Hunt spent the first hour of his visit meeting staff and experiencing work on the frontline, before holding a joint meeting in the County Restaurant Meeting Room with Karl McCartney MP and numerous staff from the hospital, including the Deputy Director of Operations, Linda Higginbottom, to discuss amongst other things, the challenges of improving quality of care at the Trust.
Karl McCartney MP said: “I am grateful to the Secretary of State for Health for taking the time to come to Lincoln County Hospital and thank our local NHS staff in person for the excellent work they do caring for us.
“I am sure the staff present felt as pleased as I did to hear Jeremy assure us that this Government are investing more in the NHS and the services it provides.
“Our NHS is a national treasure and our Conservative-led Government has demonstrated its continuing commitment to the NHS by increasing spending on it every year since 2010, which we have been able to do only because of the difficult decisions we have taken on public spending.”
Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt said: “I was very pleased to be able to visit Lincoln County Hospital – which has made positive changes in the last year since being placed into special measures, with more nurses and evidence of real improvements for patients.”
