Lincoln’s Member of Parliament, Karl McCartney MP, has today welcomed the announcement from the Prime Minister and the Chancellor that there will be £36 billion invested in more than 200 infrastructure projects this year.
This investment will particularly benefit Lincoln with both the Lincoln Eastern Bypass and also our County of Lincolnshire with its flood defence projects whilst also helping to create the jobs that provide people with stability and security.
Karl McCartney MP said: “Backing small business and enterprise with better infrastructure is an integral part of this Government’s long-term economic plan to build a stronger, more competitive British economy.
“After 13 years of a Labour Government that consistently failed to deliver the transport network and infrastructure our City, County and Region need and deserve, we have a Conservative-led Government that is listening to, and delivering for the people of Lincoln and Lincolnshire. It is great news that the Lincoln Eastern Bypass is progressing and I firmly believe it will prove to be a catalyst for the economic well-being and growth of Lincoln and Lincolnshire.
“By taking difficult decisions to control spending elsewhere, the Government has been able to invest in infrastructure – creating jobs and making it easier for businesses to move goods around the Country.
“Each job for a business in Lincoln means another family has the security and peace of mind that comes from a regular pay packet.”
