On Saturday, 18 April the Conservative Candidate in Sleaford & North Hykeham, Stephen Phillips QC, came to the neighbouring City of Lincoln Constituency to canvass local residents and assist Karl McCartney JP’s Re-Election Campaign.
The pair were joined by members of Karl’s Campaign Team who spent the day chatting to voters in Park Ward, including at the three main entrances of Lincoln City FC prior to their match against Eastleigh, and in Bracebridge Heath and Bracebridge.
Karl McCartney JP: “It was very kind of Stephen to come to Lincoln and lend his support to my Re-election Campaign and, by all the accounts of those who joined us, we had a fantastic response on the doorstep.
“We and my Campaign Team spoke to well over a hundred residents in the morning in Park Ward in the Centre of the City and then went onto Bracebridge and the surrounding areas.
“Most of the voters we spoke to were well aware of the economic mess the last Labour Government left five years ago that we Conservatives are having to clear up, and certainly are no fans of the prospect of a Labour Government in power with the SNP either.
“We also enjoyed meeting with supporters of Lincoln City FC at the three main entrances to the ground before the last home game on Saturday. Lively banter was the order the day and many of our leaflets were well received by fans - some of whom wished us the very best of luck too!”
Stephen Phillips QC, said: “It was a pleasure to join Karl and his campaigners - we had a great response both on the doorstep and from The Imps’ fans.
“Many of the people I met in Lincoln are concerned about the prospect of another Labour Government, this time reliant on the support of the SNP, and their addiction to taxing, spending and borrowing.
“It is clear that many people in the City appreciate Karl’s hard work in Lincoln over the last 5 years and his many achievements which include securing agreement both for footbridges over two of the City’s level crossings and for the Lincoln Eastern Bypass, as well as more direct train services both this year and in the future.
“Karl has been – and will continue to be – a strong voice in Parliament for Lincoln and I am delighted to offer him my support.”
