Following a question by Lincoln’s Conservative MP, Karl McCartney, at Prime Minister’s Questions today, Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP attacked Lincoln’s Labour-run City Council for closing the City’s historic Christmas Market.
Karl asked the Prime Minister whether he agreed that the City Council had destroyed the reputation of the City by closing the 40 year old Christmas Market without consultation. Karl also added that it was devastating for tourism, charities and local entrepreneurs, and, would he therefore suggest Lincoln’s voters choose the Conservatives in tomorrow’s City Council election.
In response, the Prime Minister stated: “I share my colleague’s disappointment that after a decision taken by the Labour-run council behind closed doors, there no longer will be a Christmas Market in Lincoln ending its 40 years’ history. Lincoln deserves better and I urge the people of Lincoln to vote Conservative tomorrow.”
