The winner of Karl McCartney MP’s annual Christmas card competition has been chosen from among a dazzling array of entries submitted by young artists at Lincoln’s primary schools.
Each year the MP for Lincoln writes to all primary schools across the constituency, inviting children to submit designs to the competition, with the winner used as the official Christmas card sent to Parliamentary colleagues, businesses and organisations throughout Lincolnshire.
This year’s competition winner is Ella, a Year 6 student from Hartsholme Academy, with runners up from St. Faith and St. Martin CE Junior School, Bishop King CE Primary School, St. Christopher’s School and also from Hartsholme Academy.
Mr. McCartney said: “This year I have been absolutely bowled over by the sheer number of talented young people in our city – we actually had more entries this year than ever before.
“It was an incredibly tough challenge selecting the winner from so many wonderful designs, but Ella’s wonderfully bright and joyful design really stood out, not only for her talented artwork, but also for capturing the Christmas spirit. Huge congratulations and my heartfelt thanks for all the hard work she clearly put into the design.
“Thank you to all those who entered and sorry to those who were not chosen as winner or runners up this year – there were so many beautiful and heart-warming designs to choose from, with over 350 entries from across the constituency of Lincoln.
“And of course a big thank you to all the schools and teachers who organised their entries. It’s been a difficult year for many, not least of all for school children and their families and teachers – I hope the chosen winner and runners up will bring a smile to readers’ faces.”
The official constituency Christmas card is used by Mr McCartney to send to parliamentary colleagues, businesses and organisations, not only across the constituency of Lincoln, but also in Skellingthorpe, Bracebridge Heath and Waddington and the wider county and East Midlands. The card is also used by the Lincoln Conservative Association Chairman Mrs. Jane Kendrick to send to each Conservative Association member.
