Karl McCartney MP has welcomed new statistics that show the number of people in work in the East Midlands has increased by 72,000 since the last election – meaning more families in Lincoln have the security of a pay packet at the end of the month.
Hardworking people in Lincoln have benefitted from new jobs being created recently in the engineering and retails sectors.
Karl McCartney MP said: “It is great news that there are 72,000 more people in work in East Midlands since 2010. That means 72,000 more hardworking people bringing home a regular pay packet, giving them and their family more financial security for the future.
“In respect of my City of Lincoln Constituency, I am particularly pleased that unemployment is now 543 lower than in March 2013 and 59 lower than in February 2014.
“There is still more to do, but these figures show that the Conservatives’ long-term economic plan is working. We need to stick to the plan, which is getting people off benefits and into work, and delivering a more secure future for people in Lincoln who want to work hard and get on in life.”
