Against the wishes of the City’s retailers, the public, businesses and heritage organisations, the Labour Council has decided to permanently close two public toilets whilst three others will only be opened for special events in Lincoln. They even ignored a public petition. It raises serious questions about how committed Labour really are with regarding to ensuring Lincoln is the place to shop, visit, work and learn.
Kar said “With the huge and welcome increase in tourist visitors and shoppers to Lincoln, it is incoherent and unacceptable that the Labour council are closing these much-needed facilities”
Conservative Councillor for Witham Ward, Thomas Dyer, said: “Lincoln’s Labour councillors need to stop burying their head in the sand. It’s a crucial service that the council provides. There is no justification for closing the public toilets”
