“I have been asked for my views on banning the American XL Bully Dogs.
“I love dogs like so many people do in Lincoln, but ownership comes with a responsibility. This breed clearly seems to be a danger after what we saw in Birmingham and if the urgent Government review says they should be banned then I agree.
“Many have also said we need better education for dog owners and also stiffer penalties for those who do not control their dogs. I agree with that too.
“Ban dangerous dog breeds, better education and enforcement to ensure that dog owners are responsible for and also suffer far stiffer penalties to encourage responsible ownership of all breeds but particularly for those who feel the need to assert their self-importance with dangerous or violent breeds of dogs. We should do all three.”
