In response to the recent news that Lincoln Labour’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (PPC) has taken £10,000.00 from the LibDem ‘fixer’ and friend of Vincent Cable, Lord Oakeshott, Lincoln’s Conservative Member of Parliament, Karl McCartney, has written to the Labour Party asking if it is true that the Labour PPC in Lincoln has given assurances to Lord Oakeshott that she will not be campaigning, and will not ever campaign or vote for a Referendum on the European Union for the people of Britain, to secure a £10,000.00 payment from him.
If, as reported, Labour’s PPC sold her principles for this £10k before Christmas, what apology has she given to the LibDem PPC, and will give to the people of Lincoln – who would be deprived of a say on Europe, were she to be elected, because she accepted a tainted payment, and sold any principles she might have had in desperation as her campaign in Lincoln flounders: http://www.libdemvoice.org/the-independent-view-progressive-and-proeuropean-voters-must-unite-against-toryukip-chaos-44316.html
Karl McCartney , Conservative Member of Parliament for Lincoln said: "As Lord Oakeshott makes clear, Labour in Lincoln have accepted his donation of £10,000 on the basis that they will prevent Lincoln residents having their say on whether we should stay in Europe. No wonder Labour activists are very uneasy at the Labour Candidate selling herself and her principles so cheaply. It is no surprise that many traditional Labour voters in Lincoln seem to be abandoning the Party and turning to UKIP or the Greens if this is the way Ed Miliband’s Islington candidate is going to treat Lincoln’s voters, and obey a millionaire Lord rather than local residents - what is wrong with giving people a say on Europe?"
