Lincoln’s Member of Parliament, Karl McCartney MP, is in preparation for a major challenge to raise both the profile and monies for five local, Lincoln-based, charities.
Beating the Bounds 2015: Magna Carta Edition will entail Karl and his fellow volunteers walking the Magna Carter Trail from Castle Square to Langton-by-Wragby and back - a total of around 33 miles - on the 12th September. This change in the usual route for ‘Beating the Bounds’ is in celebration of the historical 800th Anniversary of the signing of Magna Carter, a major event for both Lincoln, Lincolnshire and our Country.
Karl explains why he wants to 'Beat the Bounds' once again: “This year's fundraising challenge is rather special as Lincoln (and our Country) celebrates the 800th Anniversary of the signing of Magna Carta. To celebrate this historical act, rather than walk the boundary of our constituentcy of Lincoln, this year, we are proposing to complete the Magna Carta Trail from Castle Square to Wragby and back.
“I am inviting anyone and everyone to join me on the 12th September as we walk to and then back from Langton-by-Wragby, birthplace of Archbishop Stephen Langton - who was a key figure in both the writing and sealing of Magna Carta on 15th June 1215.
“If you would like to participate or alternatively sponsor the individual walkers, the charities they represent, or to corporately sponsor the entire event (with suitable advertising provided), please do sign up for more details via the links on the 'Beating the Bounds' webpage www.beatingthebounds.org.uk or contact me through my Westminster Office on 020 7219 7221.”
The Beating the Bounds Lincoln Constituency Charity Walk involves, and will support, five charities/good causes:
- LIVES
- Family Focus
- Kids
- One Me; and

- ENDS –
