Last Friday, Lincoln’s Member of Parliament, Karl McCartney MP, met with Sig Francesco Biasion and Sig Giuseppe Saretta the Chief Executive Officer and Director respectively at Bifrangi which has a site in the City of Lincoln, as well as with Mr John Latham, the Director of Development and Environmental Services at the City of Lincoln Council.
The informal meeting was an opportunity for Lincoln’s MP to be briefed on the progress Bifrangi has made since he successfully helped the Company secure Regional Growth Fund grants to develop a Research and Development Centre at the Company’s site at Spa Road in Lincoln. As well as creating meaningful permanent jobs in the City, the project will create opportunities for Lincoln students within the engineering sector and create beneficial links between industry and university research, building Lincoln’s reputation as a strong engineering base, supported by innovative R&D activity. This will build on the technological advances and supply chain already in place within Lincoln and ensure that the critical mass currently being expanded will soon be self-perpetuating.
The project follows a commitment from Bifrangi to invest c.£50m in a new forging facility in Lincoln - a commitment which exemplifies the confidence and loyalty Bifrangi has given Lincoln, their workers, and the local engineering sector more generally over the years.
Karl McCartney MP said: “I was delighted to see Signor Biasion, Signor Saretta, as well as John Latham from Lincoln City Council and others, last Friday, with whom I worked closely to secure some £4.8million of RGF money to develop a Research and Development Centre at Bifrangi’s site in Spa Road in my Constituency.
“This meeting gave me the chance to reiterate my support for Bifrangi and welcome the opportunities the project will bring for both the Company and present employees, as well as the high value engineering job opportunities that this presents for my City of Lincoln and Constituents. I am also confident that there will be added benefits from the new manufacturing products and processes developed as a result of the project, that can be harnessed for the good of the Italian company, our City, Country and our environment.
