Please find below a statement from Lincoln’s Member of Parliament, Karl McCartney MP, on the announcement that his and local residents’ campaign to save Burton Road Surgery has been successful:
“I am delighted to have received an assurance from Dr David Sharp, our Region’s Director of Commissioning Operations at NHS England, that NHS England have now identified a new provider of GP services for Burton Road Surgery and that a contract has been signed with Universal Health, effective from Wednesday, 1 July 2015.
“This, of course, follows the assurance I secured in October 2014 that, following consultation with patients and stakeholders, NHS England would advertise the opportunity to provide primary care services at Burton Road Surgery for at least the next five years.
“The Doctors, Nurses and Staff at 181 Burton Road Surgery - which I, my family, and c.2700 of my City of Lincoln Constituents are registered at - provides us all with first class healthcare. Indeed, fellow patients who have contacted me have been united in their admiration for the staff and care they have received at the Surgery, some for a very considerable length of time.
“I shall continue to do everything I can as the local Member of Parliament for the City of Lincoln to ensure that all of my constituents receive the very best health service provision available.
“I would like to thank those of my Constituents who supported the excellent Campaign and, in particular, offer a special thanks to Liz Rance, Margaret Adams and Jaci Gill, who were central to the Campaign, as well as some of the local Councillors, whose efforts were also helpful.”
