In response to the announcement, made by the Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer, with regard to devolution for Greater Lincolnshire which will result in a Greater Lincolnshire Mayor and Combined Authority, Karl who is Lincoln's MP, said:
“I am delighted the Chancellor has announced there will be devolution for Greater Lincolnshire. It provides a huge opportunity that should be met with open arms. I fully endorse and support it. It will lead to more funding, more powers to make big decisions locally and create a clear champion for our wonderful County.
“Greater Lincolnshire needs to have a higher profile nationally and a Greater Lincolnshire Mayor would deliver and be responsible for this. This would lead to better support for our brilliant companies, industries and farming community right across the County. The Mayor would also have powers to both promote and protect our wonderful coast, countryside, City, towns and villages - ensuring the best infrastructure, environment and opportunities for everyone, all of which are hugely important.”
