On Wednesday 1st April, the Conservative’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Lincoln, Karl McCartney, attended the opening of Lincoln Castle Revealed - an ambitious restoration of this building that dates from 1068. Some £22m has been spent on the Castle between 2011-14 and the opening of the restored Castle is in anticipation of the Magna Carta’s 800th anniversary in 2015. It has been a complex project that Lincolnshire County Council began work on in 2006.
Karl McCartney said: “I was pleased to be able to support the initial bid for funding when I was elected five years ago and to have continually supported this project as Lincoln’s Member of Parliament.
“For the first time visitors can now walk amongst the battlements around the whole Castle with a brand new informative and atmospheric audio guide and enjoy spectacular views over Lincoln and our beautiful Cathedral.
“This most impressive exhibition also includes an underground vault and an 'in the round' cinema experience.
“I can certainly recommend it to residents in, and visitors to, our City.”
“It has been a long journey for the County Council but I congratulate them on a magnificent piece of work.”
