Since the Conservative Government was elected in 2010, they have delivered a range of large scale investments for the City of Lincoln. This includes recently:
- Significant funding in transport infrastructure such as £122 million Lincoln Eastern bypass connecting the A158 Wragby Road with the A15 Sleaford Road. There is also the forthcoming £110 million for the North Hykeham Relief Road (Southern Bypass). This will create a major ring road around Lincoln for the first-ever time.
- Increased funding and support for Lincoln County Hospital including recently a £7 million investment in the A&E facilities, alongside investment into the neonatal intensive care unit.
- £19 million from the Conservative Government’s Towns Fund deals alongside £6 million for the City’s flood defences
Further funding has already been received in 2022 including:
- £1.75 million for Lincolnshire and Lincoln towards supporting domestic abuse victims which includes support for healthcare, social worker and other specialist services for victims.
- £250,000 for six historic shop fronts in Sincil Street. In April 2020, £1.7 million was received from Historic England to help restore and revitalise this historic area.
- £90,000 for Bishop Grosseteste University, the University of Lincoln and Lincoln College to help modernise and upgrade their facilities and equipment.
Lincoln MP, Karl McCartney, said: “The Conservative Government continues to give Lincoln a big vote in confidence by investing in its educational facilities, heritage and social care. I will never cease in knocking on the doors of Ministers to ensure this great City receives the funding it deserves so it remains the best place in Britain to live, work, study and visit.”
