Karl McCartney JP MP, Member of Parliament for the City of Lincoln is delighted with today’s announcement that the Conservative Government is once again investing in our City’s future. This further vote of confidence in Lincoln, will ensure the City continues to be the vibrant heart of the East Midlands with successful business, increasing tourism and an improving standard of living for hardworking people and families.
The Conservative Government’s plans for further investment into Lincoln, include:
- £2.5 million in road junction improvements on the A46 Lincoln Bypass, specifically the junctions with the A15 (to Scunthorpe), Nettleham (A46 to Market Rasen) and Wragby Road (A158 to Louth)
- £5 million for the development of a Greater Lincolnshire Centre for Health Science at the University of Lincoln to drive growth and productivity throughout the local health and care sector including improving skills. It paves the way for the establishment of a full medical school for the region, something Karl has been an integral part of securing for the City & County
- £11.2 million for a Greater Lincolnshire Advanced Engineering, Research and Development Centre developed by the internationally recognised partnership between Siemens and the University of Lincoln. It will be housed within Phase 2 of the Lincoln Science and Innovation Park Centre helping local manufacturers, offering opportunities to young people in the City and growing existing businesses, attracting inward investment and developing further high technology industry.
There will also be a County-wide £6.5 million Skills Capital Investment Fund.
