In response to the latest Covid-19 updates, Lincoln’s MP, Karl McCartney, said: “With the number of confirmed daily cases of Covid falling when just over a week ago there were warnings that we could reach 100,000 or even 200,000 cases a day, it important that we move back to normal as soon as we can. There is no going back now as I said earlier this month.
“As I have said since the lockdown restrictions were starting to be lifted, it should be a personal choice regarding wearing a mask when you go into a restaurant or use public transport. We want to go back to normal, businesses want to go back to normal and many people of all ages want to go back to a normal life. This is also why I will not support the idea of COVID passports being used for access to nightclubs or crowded places, or education facilities. It is not a forward step.
“We want the City to be buzzing again with tourists and as the summer ends, we look forward to welcoming all of our university students back as well.
“We are continuing as a Country to go full steam ahead with the vaccination roll-out and I continue to encourage everyone who wishes to, who has not had two jabs and has the opportunity, to actually do so.”
